Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but a new edition of Once Upon A Twisted in Time is coming soon. Speaking about fairy tales, the new season of Once Upon A Time, my favorite TV show ever, is premiering tomorrow on ABC, so I dare you to check it out.
And from what the title says, no the power did not go out for five minutes and I got freaked out cause I couldn't blog. It was twenty minutes. First, let me explain. My awesome history teacher, who is super funny and smart, assigned the class the weirdest homework I've ever had. We're learning about early colonial America ( which, by the way, is more interesting than I thought) and he decided that we needed to learn what life was like. That's right, no TV, no radio, no iPod, not even lights!
At first, the day started off normal. I did my homework right when I got home anyway, so it didn't matter. Okay, so I watch TV for about ten minutes while having a snack, so I replaced it by procrastinating on my reading log reading for 40 minutes. But even though I had mountains of homework in nearly all my classes, I was able to get everything done in daylight. After boring homework, I played my guitar for a little while to soothe my need to listen to music. I didn't sing much because all of my accompaniment was on my tablet. Then the night came. Dun, dun dun!!! The house slowly crept into darkness, one room at a time. First the kitchen, then the TV room, then- wait why am I telling you this like it was a horror movie? I was a lil' creepy when I drew my friend's birthday card and read at 8:00, but overall, it wasn't like I was explaining it at all.
By 6:30, the house was captivated by darkness. Really, you could barely see anything. Sunny, my dog, was waiting by the screen door to be let go outside and I thought I was seeing things. I needed a lantern to travel to four feet! A half hour later, it was time to eat dinner, and even though my teacher said I could use a refrigerator and my mom ate a salad she got from the fridge, I went hardcore and ate everything from the pantry! So, I ate canned chicken and a banana. But my mom wanted me to eat some vegetables, so I took some V-8 juice from the fridge, which tasted like pasta sauce, breaking my code.
Once my dad came home from work late, I turned on some lights, so he would get used to the darkness and not trip over anything. From then on, my parents did not listen to the no electricity instructions at all! I wasn't even allowing myself to walk into my dad's office because the lights were on! So here I am reading in the dark, being so desperate, I tried to listen to what my mom was watching on The Voice! I even became a fan girl of the book, SummerHill Secrets, which is an awesome book about a girl who lives by an Amish town, in ten minutes. when my parents asked me if I wanted to go to bed at a certain time, I was like, NO! I'M READING!!!!!!!!.
Still, my parents dragged me to my room. The saddest part was that the power went off for twenty minutes a few hours after I went to sleep! Seriously! The morning was pretty normal without electricity, I just didn't use my brushing timer, so I used my "best" judgement instead. Just kidding, I think I did well.
Now, I appreciate even more of what I have. Thank you modern technology!
